Singer-songwriter Trey Songz was born in Virginia on November 28, 1984. In 2003, Songz signed a record deal and received a $100,000 advance and two years later released his debut album, I Gotta Make It. The album peaked at no. 20 on the Billboard charts and spawned his first top 20 single, “Can’t Help but Wait.” Since then he released his followup albums Trey Day and Ready which have both garnered wide acclaim, with the latter spawning his first top 10 hit “Say Aah” as well as a Grammy nomination in 2008. The following year saw Trigga’s biggest hit to date, “Bottoms Up” featuring Nicki Minaj from his fourth studio album Passion, Pain & Pleasure. 2012 saw Songz’s first number one album, Chapter V, with the lead single “Heart Attack” being nominated for Best R&B Song at the 2013 Grammy Awards. In 2014 Trey released his sixth album, Trigga, with singles “Na Na” and “Slow Motion” topping the charts. Trey Songz has sold an overall 14 million records worldwide in singles and albums.
