Drai’s Weekend Recap: Kevin Hart + Trey Songz (7/6) and Meek Mill (7/7)

It was a Philly takeover this past weekend here at Drai’s Nightclub as we officially hosted Kevin Hart’s birthday with a special performance from our very own Trey Songz, as well as Meek Mill’s highly-anticipated residency debut at the world-famous Drai’s LIVE stage! With a weekend as stacked as this one, it was another sold out Friday and Saturday evening as the rooftop Las Vegas nightclub was once again the hottest destination to be. Plenty of special guests came out to party, with a number of NBA players in town for Summer League including LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Paul, Patrick Beverly, J.R. Smith, James Harden, John Wall and more. NFL players Shaquem and Shaquill Griffin, Will Gay and Bryan McFadden were spotted, as well as German soccer stars Jerome Boateng and Julian Draxler. Artist sightings include Nelly, Fabolous, Pusha T and Machine Gun Kelly!

The vibes were amazing from start to finish Friday night, as fans and partygoers from all over came out to celebrate the birthday of Kevin Hart! Kevin came in early with close friends and family to hang out at the stageside VIP, popping drinks, laughing, dancing and having a blast. He got up on stage to greet fans and to share some laughs with everyone: “It’s my birthday, I’m having a good time! Looks like a movie in here at Drai’s, I’m feelin’ myself! I want y’all to turn up for my birthday. I’m 39 and I didn’t even start yet, I’m just getting started!” Drai’s resident Nelly was also seen hanging behind the stage, and couldn’t help but surprise the birthday boy on stage — this is where Kevin requested “E.I.” to be played as people cheered on, with Nelly getting on the mic for a few verses! Trey’s official drummer Amadeus was on the drums as well, killing it as always.

It was then time for Trey Songz to perform, starting with “Say Aah” dedicated to Kevin Hart and all the birthday people in the building, laughing and joking with one another on stage as screams filled the entire venue! Trey was just on point as always, impeccably singing hits “Na Na,” “Touchin, Lovin,” “Two Reasons” and more with all the beautiful ladies singing along! Trigga also brought out classics “Dive In,” “Neighbors Know My Name” and “One Love,” with Kevin coming back on stage to “assist” him with the singing to everyone’s amusement. They both closed the epic Friday night with “Bottoms Up,” with shots being handed out to the dance floor. “Make some noise right here for my man, Chocolate Droppa, Kevin Hart!” A special birthday presentation was on hand as well on stage, with an incredible custom cake for Kevin Hart to cap off the night! Nelly then joined them back on stage, wishing Kevin Hart a very happy birthday and keeping the festivities going all night long!

Anticipation was in the air Saturday evening, with people eagerly making their way in to see Meek Mill’s grand return to the Drai’s LIVE stage — it didn’t take long for this night to sell out! Meek started his debut off with “Millidelphia” from his just-released EP Legends of the Summer, proudly repping his hometown of Philadelphia. Y’all ready to have a good time, make some noise! What’s going on at Drai’s tonight, let’s go!” as he transitioned into arguably one of the most hype anthems of all time, “Dreams and Nightmares” — it was pure insanity from there as everyone just turned up to another level, you just had to be here to really know! Meek’s stage presence was a force to be reckoned with, amping the crowd up as he performed countless hits like “I’m a Boss,” “On the Regular,” “Glow Up” and more. He shouted out plenty of special guests and NBA stars in the building: “Pusha T, we got Fab in the building one time! Shout out to CP3, sixth man of the year Lou Williams, James Harden in the building, what up MVP!” He didn’t leave the ladies out, performing “Whatever You Need” to screams left and right! “Drai’s put your twos up, if you having a good time make some noise! I’m trying to have some fun tonight, what’s up!” Meek Mill concluded his show with Wins & Losses hits “1942 Flows” and “Save Me,” with his many fans rapping to every single word — truly impressive! Don’t miss his next appearance here at Drai’s Nightclub on Saturday, July 21! Click here to purchase tickets.
