Drai’s Weekend Recap: TIP (2/18) and Fat Joe (2/19)
by DRAI’S / February 20, 2018
Partygoers came out in droves over the weekend to catch the return of two hip-hop veterans at the Drai’s LIVE stage. Saturday we got the King of the South himself, TIP for another high-octane performance; and it was another special edition of #SunDraisWithDJFranzen Sunday night with the Bronx’s Fat Joe for a full-length concert series! It was NBA All-Star Weekend as well, with some notable NBA players coming in to Drai’s Nightclub to celebrate!
Saturday night drew in a massive crowd from start to finish, with people dancing, drinking, and bottle presentations going on all over the place! TIP got things started perfectly with “Top Back,” never failing to amp his fans up when he’s on the mic. “If you love trap music make some noise!” as he went into “Rubberband Man.” Countless hits were performed on stage, such as “Ride Wit Me,” “No Mediocre” and “24,” during which tables started to make it rain! “If you came to have a good time, if you been with the King from day 1 make some noise right now” as cheers erupted from fans all over the venue, going all the way back to his Urban Legend single “U Don’t Know Me.” TIP of course treated ladies to songs like “Let’s Get Away” and the classic “Whatever You Like,” and the energy was just insane. More chart-toppers like “Bring Em Out,” “Big Things Poppin'” and “Live Your Life” were let loose, closing his set with “Swagger Like Us.” TIP, as always, killed it for what was another incredible evening!
For this special edition of SunDRAI, we of course had our very talented Drai’s Dirty Dancers entertaining patrons all night, with sounds courtesy of DJ Franzen. Fat Joe was all smiles as he was spotted lounging at our stage-side VIP booths before going on stage, joined by close friends and colleagues. Joe decided to start the show in dedication to his hometown by performing “New York,” as fans excitedly cheered on. After that he brought out special guest and frequent collaborator Dre up on stage to join him for “Pick It Up” and “So Excited,” from Fat Joe’s upcoming album Family Ties! Hit singles “Twinz,” “Get It Poppin” and “Money Showers” were performed, with the latter literally causing some big money showers all over the club. Joe does a little something for the ladies with “Another Round” and fan-favorite “What’s Love,” with everyone singing along to each word. He then took a moment to show his appreciation: “I gotta tell you something man, I need to thank all of you for sticking with me all these years!” Joe continued to kill it with hit songs “All the Way Up,” “Make It Rain” and ended the night with “Still Not a Player.” “I love you Vegas, thank you so much!” We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end another hit weekend here at Drai’s Nightclub!
