Drai’s Memorial Day Weekend 2018 Recap
by DRAI’S / May 30, 2018
Arguably our biggest 2018 lineup to date, Drai’s Beachclub and Nightclub brought the very best in hip-hop and dance music for Memorial Day Weekend! For Drai’s Beachclub on Saturday we saw the 2018 Beachclub debut of Rae Sremmurd alongside A-Trak, and Sunday was R&B sensation Trey Songz with sounds by DJ Pauly D. Friday evening at Drai’s Nightclub was the grand return of Future, Saturday was an exclusive co-headlining performance from 2 Chainz and Trey Songz (along with some very special guests), and we wrapped it up on Sunday with the #1 rap group in the world Migos. A lineup this big means plenty of special guests came out to party: NFL players Von Miller, Captain Munnerlyn, Jamie Collins, Akem Ayers, Keith Smith, Marqise Lee and many more; NBA players Myles Turner, Anthony Davis, Trevor Booker, Iman Shumpert, Brandan Wright, CJ Watson, Damian Lillard and Isiah Thomas; music artists Akon, Desiigner, YG, Playboi Carti, Teyana Taylor and Young Buck; and notable guests Terrence J, Jasmine Sanders, restaurateur Michael Chow and actor John Robinson! And now for our MDW 2018 recap:
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to start Memorial Day Weekend off with Future live in concert at Drai’s Nightclub! His highly-anticipated return to the Drai’s stage was the talk of the town, once again making for another fun-filled, jam-packed evening. You could just feel the great energy from everyone in the club, thrilled to begin their three-day weekend off in the hottest nightclub on the Strip! Future began his set with a verse from “King’s Dead” into 2012’s “Same Damn Time,” with loud cheers filling the entire venue. He brought out more of his classics than usual, performing “Chosen One,” “Itchin,” “Bugatti” and more for the day 1 fans! “Vegas y’all ready to turn up?! I think we need to go to another level right now…” as he then performed club-banger “New Level,” always getting everyone amped up! Future kept the party going with fan-favorites like “Thought It Was a Drought,” “Low Life” and “March Madness.” “If you having a good time put your drinks up!” as he went into everyone’s favorite turn-up anthem, “Commas”! Future closed his set off the best way possible with “Mask Off,” as partygoers sang each and every word with bottles being popped, tables making it rain, and everyone just having a blast!
Saturday afternoon saw Rae Sremmurd’s 2018 Drai’s Beachclub debut, with sounds by A-Trak! It was a packed house from beginning to end, with guests from all over looking for some fun in the sun on the rooftop of The Cromwell! A-Trak warmed up the crowd with his impeccable scratching and transitions, bringing out the best remixes to hits like “Gotti,” “Wipe Me Down,” “I’m Going In,” and a whole lot more. He smoothly mixed it up from hip-hop to R&B, to some dance bangers like “Sahara,” “Bootyzilla” and his very own “Prayer Hands.” We also had everyone in and around the pools “Swag Surfin'” to the hit song; you had to be there to really know! It was then time for Rae Sremmurd’s show, opening with “No Type” for the many ladies in the club! “How many people from out of town right here?! I wanna see everybody jumping in the pools like you don’t give a f***, SremmLife!” and without hesitation we had fans cheering and making a splash in the pools! Always showing love to their fans, Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi greet those up front and even grabbing phones for some exclusive stories! The brothers performed a number of SR3MM singles like “42,” “Brxnks Truck” and “Guatemala,” and of course crowd favorites “Unforgettable,” “Black Beatles,” “Swang” and more! “Y’all so turned up right now, everyone having a good time?! Y’all sound so beautiful!” Rae Sremmurd finished their explosive set with “Powerglide,” proving time and again that they bring the best out of everyone!
If we had one word to describe Saturday night here at Drai’s Nightclub, it would have to be historic. Another sold out evening, we had excited guests coming in from around the world to see both 2 Chainz and Trey Songz live in concert! Let’s get right into it as there’s A LOT to cover: Trey got the evening started to “Na Na” and “Touchin, Lovin,” never failing to get the ladies screaming! During “Invented Sex,” Swae Lee was vibing off the incredible energy and couldn’t help but go up on stage for a bit to say hello! Trey then surprised loyalists by singing classics like “Beat It Up,” “Takin’ It There” and “Dive In,” and of course they knew every word! “Who’s ready for 2 Chainz up in here!” Trey asked, to roaring cheers everywhere! 2 Chainz happily gets tagged in, getting it going with “No Problem” followed by “All Me.” “Shout out to all the pretty ladies in the building. If you came out here with your best friends make some noise!” as he rapped “Rich As F***” to everyone winning that night. “I’m Different,” “Trap Check,” “Watch Out,” “4 AM” and his latest single “PROUD” were also brought out, with Trey joining 2 Chainz on stage for “It’s a Vibe”; it’s only right that this happened! Trigga continues with his latest club banger “Booty (Remix),” then shots were passed out during “Say Aah” for all the birthday people in the building! Then without warning, “New Freezer” starts playing — that’s right, Rich The Kid came up on stage to the delight of everyone! He then brought out one of the biggest singles out right now, “Plug Walk,” getting the crowd really riled up. But just as everyone thought it was over, we had another surprise up our sleeves: Swae Lee returned to the stage to perform “Powerglide,” “No Type” and “Unforgettable”! This night couldn’t get any better, right? Wrong! O.T. Genasis came out to “Cut It,” “Push It” and “CoCo,” and it was just madness from there on out! Trey then said “I think we can do one more,” fittingly closing this legendary evening out with “Bottoms Up.” It was truly a magical, once in a lifetime show for the books!
The momentum kept on going Sunday at Drai’s Beachclub, with Trey Songz coming back for the dayclubbers and the return of DJ Pauly D! Pauly kicked it off with remixes to “Work,” “Congratulations,” “Best Friend,” “All I Do Is Win” and much more alongside our Drai’s Dirty Dancers accompanying him. There was no better place to be in Vegas than here, overlooking the entire Strip with bottles popping, beach balls in the air, and the perfect weather for some sunbathing! “If you’re in the pool, I need you to splash when the beat drops!” His energetic mic presence always keeps the party going strong, gladly greeting many fans by the stage while he was at it. Trey Songz was back and ready to sing for the Beachclub crowd: “I just came out here to have a good time with y’all today, let’s go!” before performing “Heart Attack” then “Slow Motion.” “Who wants to have a drink with me?! Who’s celebrating a birthday right now?” For all the Geminis, it was time for “2 Reason” and “Say Aah,” and we definitely had a lot of birthday people celebrating! Trigga closed his set out with “Bottoms Up” as we had everyone singing it with him, and cabanas making it rain over the balcony to add to the wonderful ambiance! Trey graciously greeted fans on the stage afterwards, taking time for some pictures and handing out drinks!
We ended Memorial Day Weekend in style Sunday night with the hottest acts in town: Migos live in concert! The show was sold out early on, with eager fans making their way in to see the trio on stage. We had the amazing Amadeus on drums, with DJ Franzen on the decks playing the biggest R&B and hip-hop hits from the ’90s to today. It was a spectacular evening from start to finish, being the last day for MDW so we had people going all in and having the time of their lives! Migos began their set with “Supastars” followed by Culture singles “Deadz” and “Slippery.” “If y’all having a good time, can I get a ‘yessir!’ Where my day 1 Migos fans at?!” asked Quavo before performing 2013’s “Hannah Montana” to loud cheers! They also rapped to Cardi B’s banger “Drip,” and there were definitely a lot of Cardi supporters in the building. The Migos had quite the arsenal of chart-toppers, bringing out “Ice Tray,” “Fight Night,” “Walk It Talk It,” “Stir Fry” and more. Offset got on the mic and told everyone “when I say raindrop, you say drop top! Rain drop…” “Drop top!” so it was time to get “Bad and Boujee” for a few minutes, causing tables to make it rain, more shots, and a lot of dancing! Migos concluded their show with “T-Shirt,” thus ending our mind-blowing Memorial Day Weekend festivities! If you missed out on Migos this time then fear not, as they will be returning again to Drai’s Nightclub in June!
