Drai’s resident artist Snoop Dogg, alongside singer and actress Tamar Braxton, will be starring in an upcoming musical titled Redemption of a Dogg. The multifaceted rapper made the breaking announcement earlier today via Twitter:

Redemption of a Dogg, which is written, directed and produced by Je’Caryous Johnson, chronicles the life of a rapper who is faced with choosing between fame and fortune over family and the love of his life. Snoop’s greatest hits, as well as songs from his recent gospel album Bible of Love, will serve as the musical’s soundtrack. “I’m excited to link up with my guy Je’Caryous Johnson on ‘Redemption of a Dogg’ the stage play,” said Snoop. “Please believe you’ve never seen urban theatre like this! With my flavor and his expertise, we’re gonna bring the people an unmissable show. I can’t wait for everyone out there to see it!”
Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 10, with the show’s opening being held in Houston on October 5 — marking the 25th anniversary of Snoop’s debut album, Doggystyle. “I get to work with hip-hop legend Snoop.
